Marvel Studios is in final negotiations for Buffy the Vampire Slayer series architect Joss Whedon to direct Marvel Studios’ The Avengers. That’s the fast-tracked film that would amount to an all-star team of Marvel superheros, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), as well as SHIELD leader Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).

Starting to sound like the plan. But will the Hulk be friend or foe?? THRALL WORLD has heard rumors going as far back as late 2008 of the Hulk actually being the “villian” – a la a rampaging Hulk – which was a typical storyline every few years if you read The Incredible Hulk comic book. At some point when the Hulk went apeshit the heroes of the Marvel Universe had to bring take the big green guy down. And that, of course, was always easier said than done.
The latest from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige:
“By the time ‘The Avengers’ comes in 2012, it’s not just a team superhero movie with a bunch of characters with powers. It’s three people – four including the Hulk; five including Nick Fury – who you’ve seen before in other movies, coming together for the very first time.”
He also goes on to explain that they want to do a second Hulk movie with ED NORTON but that it definitely will not be until after ‘THE AVENGERS’ hits theaters on May, 4th 2012.

The addition of Ray Stevenson is an interesting cast addition – actually kind of funny if you’re familiar with the comic book. The character Volstagg could end up being a sort of comic insert in some scenes a la Gimli from the Lord Of The Rings trilogy.
Odin is Thor’s father, the ruler of the Norse Gods, and one bad azz mamma jamma you don’t want to mess with.

Other confirmed cast for the Kenneth Branagh directed THOR, which has a confirmed release date of May 20th, 2011, includes:
Chris Hemsworth as Thor – the God of Thunder
Tom Hiddleston as Loki
Natalie Portman as Thor’s human love interest – Jane Foster
Jaimie Alexander as Thor’s Asgardian love interest – Sif
Colm Feore as a yet to be revealed villian
Stellan Skarsgård as a top-secret as yet unrevealed role

In an article in the German edition of Gentlemen’s Quarterly aka GQ, [Matthias Schweighöfer] states that he’s in the running for a role in Branagh’s THOR, but he also mentions that Jude Law and Robert DeNiro have joined the cast.
Stellan Skarsgård is ready for a role in action movie “Thor.” Everything is still secret about the project and Skarsgård can not reveal what role he will play.
So far the Kenneth Branagh directed THOR has Chris Hemsworth as Thor – the God of Thunder, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Natalie Portman as Thor’s human love interest – Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Thor’s Asgardian love interest – Sif, and Colm Feore and now Skarsgård as top-secret as yet unrevealed roles.
Skarsgård really is a spectacular and obvious choice for the movie. He was a major bad ass as the Saxon King Cerdic in the recent KING ARTHUR movie and would be great as any of the Norse Pantheon from the Marvel comic book.
Jaimie Alexander and Colm Feore [24, CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA] are coming aboard the Marvel Studios adaptation of its comic book featuring the Norse god of thunder. Kenneth Branagh is directing.
Alexander and Feore join Chris Hemsworth, already cast as Thor; Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki, the god of mischief who serves as the movie’s villain; and Natalie Portman is Thor’s human love, Jane Foster.
In Marvel’s epic fantasy, Alexander is playing Sif, a skilled Asgardian warrior who can hold her own against any man. She also is one of Thor’s loves.
Feore’s character is shrouded in mystery — the studio isn’t even sending the actors the script — though it is known to be a villain.
