'THE WOLVERINE': Starring HUGH JACKMAN and directed by DARREN ARONOFSKY

Source: HitFix.com

The film that [DARREN ARONOFSKY is] directing is officially called “The Wolverine,” and there won’t be a number attached to it.

…He referred to the movie as a “one-off,” and he emphasized that the film isn’t a sequel in any conventional sense.

Read more HERE.

‘X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE’ was utter shit but you really gotta hand it to HUGH JACKMAN. That he seems to love the character is of little doubt – and that’s a refreshing change of pace taking into consideration a Marvel property like HULK.

Bringing Aronofky on board shows that Jackman wants to make the Wolverine movie we all want to see. Now let’s see if they can deliver.

GUILLERMO DEL TORO Quits ‘THE HOBBIT’ – “Conflicting Schedules” – Official Statement

May 31, 2010

GUILLERMO DEL TORO

Source: TheOneRing.net

More bad news for Hobbit fans. In addition to a delay in production announced just last week, director GUILLERMO DEL TORO is now saying he is withdrawing from as director due to “confliciting schedules” resulting from financial issues at MGM. Here’s the latest:

Guillermo Del Toro announced today that he is no longer directing the two movies based on J.R.R Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”, but will continue to co-write the screenplays.

“In light of ongoing delays in the setting of a start date for filming “The Hobbit,” I am faced with the hardest decision of my life”, says Guillermo. “After nearly two years of living, breathing and designing a world as rich as Tolkien’s Middle Earth, I must, with great regret, take leave from helming these wonderful pictures. I remain grateful to Peter, Fran and Philippa Boyens, New Line and Warner Brothers and to all my crew in New Zealand. I’ve been privileged to work in one of the greatest countries on earth with some of the best people ever in our craft and my life will be forever changed. The blessings have been plenty, but the mounting pressures of conflicting schedules have overwhelmed the time slot originally allocated for the project. Both as a co-writer and as a director, I wlsh the production nothing but the very best of luck and I will be first in line to see the finished product. I remain an ally to it and its makers, present and future, and fully support a smooth transition to a new director”.

GUILLERMO DEL TORO

Source: ComingSoon.net

Guillermo del Toro responded to questions about the state of The Hobbit, saying that the film does not have a start date, nor will it until MGM sorts out its financial troubles.

“It’s not greenlit,” said del Toro, “That’s categorical… We’ve been caught in a very tangled negotiation…There cannot be any start dates until the MGM situation gets resolved.

“We have designed all the creatures,” he said, “We’ve designed the sets and the wardrobe. We have done animatics and planned battles sequences….We are very, very prepared for when it is finally triggered.”
