‘X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE’ was utter shit but you really gotta hand it to HUGH JACKMAN. That he seems to love the character is of little doubt – and that’s a refreshing change of pace taking into consideration a Marvel property like HULK.
Bringing Aronofky on board shows that Jackman wants to make the Wolverine movie we all want to see. Now let’s see if they can deliver.

With Darren Aronofsky directing, [HUGH JACKMAN] says that Wolverine 2 will not be a “usual” X-Men movie:
“This is, hopefully for me, going to be out of the box. It’s going to be the best one, I hope.”
Also:
“Chris McQuarrie, who wrote THE USUAL SUSPECTS, has written the script, so that’ll give you a good clue [as to overall tone of the movie between screenwriter and director].”
ABC is in very early stages of development of a live-action series adaptation of the popular Marvel comic book character. There is no writer on board yet.
Also – a few more Marvel titles/characters in line to be brought to the small screen from Yahoo:
[A] second hot property is “Cloak and Dagger,” which is being developed as a possible show for ABC Family.
And:
“Heroes for Hire” (focusing on ex-con Luke Cage offering to take on bad guys for a price);
“The Eternals” (a race of superpowered beings live amid humanity in secret, inspiring legends);
“Agents of Atlas, Alter Ego” (private investigator Jessica Jones takes on cases involving superhumans);
“Moon Knight, the Red Hood” (a low-rent criminal discovers a cloak that gives him superpowers);
“Ka-Zar” (a Tarzan-type and his saber-toothed tiger must journey to the concrete jungle to seek justice);
“Daughters of the Dragon” (a dynamic female duo, one with a bionic arm and the other a granddaughter of a samurai, open a private-detective agency); and
“The Punisher” (one man wages a war on crime; already adapted as two feature films).

There seemed to be some confusion on the part of the interwebz about whether or not red-haired EMMA STONE would play red-haired MARY JANE WATSON or blond-haired GWEN STACY.
Regardless of the hair, Stone has been slected to portray the role of GWEN STACY. And there seems to be a lot of importance attached to this casting so THRALL WORLD is led to believe that MJ might not figure as prominent in the SPIDER-MAN initial reboot movie as producers rewind and start anew the telling of the popular comic book hero.
EMMA STONE [ZOMBIELAND] has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming Spider-Man film film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, it was announced today by Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures.
Stone has been tapped for the role of GWEN STACY opposite ANDREW GARFIELD [THE SOCIAL NETWORK, THE IMAGINARIUM OF DOCTOR PARNASSUS] as Peter Parker.
The film, to be directed by Marc Webb [(500) DAYS OF SUMMER] from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and produced by Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin, will begin production in December and will be released in theaters nationwide in 3D on July 3, 2012.

Important to note: That is NOT CHRIS EVANS who is the lead in the upcoming THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA but rather a stunt double.
Being chased by agents of the primary film villian THE RED SKULL and/or agents of H.Y.D.R.A. – there is non-unanimous confirmation as to exactly who they are.

Marvel Studios announced that Oscar-nominated actor Stanley Tucci has been cast to star as Dr. Abraham Erskine in the studio’s highly anticipated movie Captain America: The First Avenger opposite Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Hugo Weaving, and Hayley Atwell.
In the early comics, Dr. Erskine was a German scientist behind Project Rebirth, the secret experiment that created the Super Soldier known as Captain America.
Tommy Lee Jones [has been cast] in ‘CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER’ in a still-unknown role. Hayley Atwell, who plays Peggy Carter in the Joe Johnston-directed comic book adaptation, confirmed the news [in the interview below].
Chatter about the CAPTAIN AMERICA movie begins at about the 2:20 mark:
Rumors place the “Men in Black” star in the part of General Chester Phillips, the military officer who chooses Steve Rogers for the super soldier program and who aided in his training soon after the serum took effect.
In addition to Atwell, Jones is joining Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Sebastian Stan, Toby Jones, Samuel L. Jackson and Dominic Cooper in the July 22, 2011 release.
Marvel Studios is in final negotiations for Buffy the Vampire Slayer series architect Joss Whedon to direct Marvel Studios’ The Avengers. That’s the fast-tracked film that would amount to an all-star team of Marvel superheros, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), as well as SHIELD leader Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).
In comic book lore, Barnes, a teenaged orphan, was too young to join the army but became one camp’s mascot. When he discovered Captain America’s identity, he joined Captain America as a partner in his Nazi-fighting escapades. The character died in Captain America’s final World War II adventure.
Insiders also say Stan has signed on for five or six pictures.
Chris Evans (“Fantastic Four” films) has accepted Marvel Studios’ offer for him to play Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Joe Johnston-directed The First Avenger: Captain America.
The deal calls for Evans to star in at least three “Captain America” movies, with the first hitting theaters on July 22, 2011.
He would reprise the role in The Avengers, which will united Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Incredible Hulk (Edward Norton) in one film. That film is scheduled for May 4, 2012. The character also will likely make cameo appearances in Marvel’s other films.
Hugo Weaving will play the villain Red Skull in THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA.
Chris Evans played Johnny Storm (AKA The Human Torch) in the FOX produced (and completely forgetable) FANTASTIC FOUR movies from a few years ago.
CHRIS EVANS will be THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA due in theaters July 22nd, 2011

Those known to be on the list with [John] Krasinski include Michael Cassidy (who appeared in”Smallvile” and who tested for the Superman movie when McG was going to direct it), Patrick Flueger (one of the stars of “The 4400″ who most recently appeared in the Tobey Maguire movie “Brothers”), Scott Porter (TV’s “Friday Night Lights”) and Mike Vogel (“Cloverfield”).
Chace Crawford is also in talks to screen test, though no deal has been made.
Garret Hedlund, already starring in Disney’s “Tron,” was also on the list to test but has fallen off, at least for now, because of scheduling conflicts. Insiders say he may still make the testing round. Jensen Ackles is another actor who had scheduling conflicts.
The studio has put the actors on 30-day holds during the testing process.
One more interesting note:
So far, no British or Australian actors have been seriously considered though the search could widen if no suitable candidates are found.
Halcyon Holding Corp accepted the $29.5 million bid from, of all parties, the debtholder which pushed it into bankruptcy, Santa Barbara-based hedge fund Pacificor.
Lionsgate and Sony were the major players in the bidding war with Pacificor (which isn’t even a movie studio) and are currently negotiating with Pacificor for the go-ahead to develop any future movies.
No word just yet on whether or not this means Christian Bale will return (although it seems unlikely) in what was planned as the first of a trilogy storyline that began with TERMINATOR: SALVATION.

Finally starting to get some early movement on where the CAPTAIN AMERICA movie will be going.
[Director Joe] Johnston confirmed at the press conference that the Red Skull will indeed be the villain of the first movie.
Joe Johnston:
“Virtually the entire story except the bookends are in World War II because we all recognize we have one chance to tell the origin story of how he became Captain America, you can’t tell a modern story and then go back and tell the origin story.”

Right on time considering Hollwoods reboot, remake, sequel mentality and the current trend in favor of comic book properties. Also – seven years since the disaster that was DAREDEVIL starring Ben Affleck as sightless attorney Matt Murdock turned super sensory enhanced costumed crime fighter who patrolled NYC’s “Hells Kitchen”.
Regency is mounting the remake with former News Corp No. 2 Peter Chernin producing. Writing the redo is screenwriter David Scarpa.
“Use it or lose it” in effect:
Hollywood studios with Marvel superheroes need to keep reinventing these Marvel movie franchises or the rights revert back to Disney-based Marvel.
The studio rights for the Marvel characters are currently spread around in such a way that The Avengers will never team up with The X-Men, Fantastic 4, The X-Men, Spider-Man, or Daredevil.
THRALL WORLD wishful thinking would have as our MOST sought after Marvel Team-Up a meeting between Daredevil and Spider-Man with Spider-Man hanging out with the Fantastic 4 a distant second. Some newer school comic fanboys would probably favor a Spider-Man and Wolverine encounter.
I guess we’ll all just have to sit around and What If amongst ourselves..
