Kate Beckinsale has officially signed on to return as the Death Dealer Selene in Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment’s Underworld 4.
The film, written by John Hlavin with revisions by J. Michael Straczynski, is currently looking for a director.
Sony’s Screen Gems has moved back the release date for Underworld 4 from September 23, 2011 to January 20, 2012.
The 3D sequel is expected to feature Kate Beckinsale back in Selene’s skin. Screenwriter John Hlavin previously described the movie as follows: “It will satisfy old fans and excite new audiences, meaning that we don’t want to redo the first three movies, so steps are being taken to honor what fans have loved but at the same time introduce fresh elements.”

“The Shield” writer John Hlavin has been hired to pen the fourth installment in Screen Gems/Lakeshore’s “Underworld” franchise.
Len Wiseman, who directed the first two films in the vampire-vs.-werewolf saga, is producing with Gary Lucchesi, Tom Rosenberg and Richard Wright of Lakeshore.

I was googling/researching for some cast and release date info for what I thought was GUILLERMO DEL TORO’s new vampire movie, ‘THE STRAIN’, and came up empty. A new trailer has been released (which you can view below).
But it turns out, ‘THE STRAIN isn’t a movie. It’s a book that Del Toro wrote with author CHUCK HOGAN.

Confirmation has come down that [David] Slade [30 DAYS OF NIGHT, HARD CANDY] is in fact directing. He’ll be working from a script by Melissa Rosenberg who is, once again, adapting from Stephenie Meyer’s material. Eclipse will hit theaters on June 30, 2010.

The company has acquired rights to the next three novels in Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster vampire series and has hired “Twilight” scribe Melissa Rosenberg to pen scripts based on “New Moon” and “Eclipse,” the second and third books, respectively.
A fourth book, “Breaking Dawn,” has not attached a writer.
