JOSS WHEDON
Source: Deadline.com
Marvel Studios is in final negotiations for Buffy the Vampire Slayer series architect Joss Whedon to direct Marvel Studios’ The Avengers. That’s the fast-tracked film that would amount to an all-star team of Marvel superheros, including Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), as well as SHIELD leader Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson).
Read more HERE.
Article forgot to mention a very likely chance of Ed Norton reprising his Bruce Banner role from THE INCREDIBLE HULK a couple years ago. Rumor still being the Hulk goes nutz and that is the catalyst that brings the Avengers together.

'DAREDEVIL' Movie Poster
Source: Deadline.com
Right on time considering Hollwoods reboot, remake, sequel mentality and the current trend in favor of comic book properties. Also – seven years since the disaster that was DAREDEVIL starring Ben Affleck as sightless attorney Matt Murdock turned super sensory enhanced costumed crime fighter who patrolled NYC’s “Hells Kitchen”.
Regency is mounting the remake with former News Corp No. 2 Peter Chernin producing. Writing the redo is screenwriter David Scarpa.
“Use it or lose it” in effect:
Hollywood studios with Marvel superheroes need to keep reinventing these Marvel movie franchises or the rights revert back to Disney-based Marvel.
The studio rights for the Marvel characters are currently spread around in such a way that The Avengers will never team up with The X-Men, Fantastic 4, The X-Men, Spider-Man, or Daredevil.
THRALL WORLD wishful thinking would have as our MOST sought after Marvel Team-Up a meeting between Daredevil and Spider-Man with Spider-Man hanging out with the Fantastic 4 a distant second. Some newer school comic fanboys would probably favor a Spider-Man and Wolverine encounter.
I guess we’ll all just have to sit around and What If amongst ourselves..

HULK, THOR, IRON MAN, and CAPTAIN AMERICA will anchor 'THE AVENGERS'
Source: SuperHeroHype.com
Starting to sound like the plan. But will the Hulk be friend or foe?? THRALL WORLD has heard rumors going as far back as late 2008 of the Hulk actually being the “villian” – a la a rampaging Hulk – which was a typical storyline every few years if you read The Incredible Hulk comic book. At some point when the Hulk went apeshit the heroes of the Marvel Universe had to bring take the big green guy down. And that, of course, was always easier said than done.
The latest from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige:
“By the time ‘The Avengers’ comes in 2012, it’s not just a team superhero movie with a bunch of characters with powers. It’s three people – four including the Hulk; five including Nick Fury – who you’ve seen before in other movies, coming together for the very first time.”
He also goes on to explain that they want to do a second Hulk movie with ED NORTON but that it definitely will not be until after ‘THE AVENGERS’ hits theaters on May, 4th 2012.

THOR About Ready To Smash Some Face
Source: CineFools.com
Writer ASHLEY MILLER on how she and writer ZACK STENTZ became involved with the movie:
“We were in the right place at the right time.”
“That we have a background in genre material and an interest in comic books were big plusses, I think. Owning a complete Walt Simonson run on Thor and being able to wax rhapsodic about Beta Ray Bill didn’t hurt our case.”
Read the entire interview HERE.
THOR will be played by CHRIS HEMSWORTH and LOKI will be played by TOM HIDDLESTON in the KENNETH BRANAGH directed movie which serves as a warm-up for the big AVENGERS movie enchilada. Robert Downey Jr. as IRON MAN and an uncast (as of yet) CAPTAIN AMERICA will also star in the movie that is expected to feature a rampaging HULK as the catalyst that will bring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes together for the very first time.
THRALL WORLD observes that the best news in this interview is the writers familiarity with the very storyline that we began with when reading comic books way back in our wee one days. WALT SIMONSON’s “SURTUR SAGA” is damn good reading even if you’re not the biggest fan of comics. Also a mention of the more modern Thor take from ‘THE ULTIMATES’ in the interview.

JON FAVREAU

MICKEY ROURKE
Source: EmpireOnline.com
JON FAVREAU on TONY STARK (played by Robert Downey Jr.):
“Tony’s expected to be a role model and I don’t think he’s ready to be one. He’s under a great deal of pressure and when you’re under pressure, I think you find outlets for that.”
Probably alluding to the characters on-again / off-again battle with alcoholism as portrayed in the Iron Man comic book…
MICKEY ROURKE on what to expect from his character Whiplash:
“…my Iron Man suit weighs 23lb. It’s sort of a half-suit, with half my skin showing, with lots of Russian tattoos, because [Whiplash is just] out of a Russian-zone prison.”
Read more HERE.
Currently filming, the JON FAVREAU directed IRON MAN sequel has a release date of May 7th, 2010 and in addition to Downey Jr. stars; Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Don Cheadle, Garry Shandling, Kate Mara, Paul Bettany, Jon Favreau, and Clark Gregg.

THRALL WORLD just caught HEMSWORTH in the new STAR TREK movie. He played Captain Kirk’s father in a brief but solid performance.
btw, THOR was the first comic book I ever bought back in the day, a few issues before WALT SIMONSON took over the book on his critically acclaimed SURTUR SAGA. Pretty cool stuffs for my wee self back in the day.
