The latest from IRAN: Peaceful Protests Lead To Hard-Line Crackdown

THRALL WORLD has been following the reports coming out of IRAN of voter irregularities, civil unrest, mass protests of up to hundreds of thousands IRANIANS, and the rising violence as the government of Iran has been trying to figure out when to say when (and how to say it).

Peacful march circa mid-week:

Needless to say, when you have a country run by a government that does not have a genuine love for freedom of speech, it can make it difficult to obtain news and updates in any sensible or credible fashion. But that hasn’t stopped blogger NICO PITNEY from giving it a solid shot. Check out his collected video and photos of a very tumultuous Iran HERE. His tribute to the Iranian Uprising is quite possibly the best on the web (and if there’s better someone please comment me a link). On any other day of the week I would call the web outlet Nico writes for a bunch of people who see voting irregularities whenever their candidate of choice doesn’t win. But as someone once said, even a broken clock is correct twice a day.

When reports first began to come out of Iran of civil unrest it was difficult to tell how widespread the unrest was. But video and images from the past several days paint a much clearer picture and there can be no doubt. People are being hurt and in some cases killed with the violence in an apparent “just getting warmed up” cycle. And things will likely get much worse than they are before they get better.

IRAN: Peaceful Protest

IRAN: Peaceful Protest

The major networks coverage of Iran during their historical identity crisis has been minimal – but that is understandable to a degree. There is absolutely NO legitimate foreign press being allowed anywhere in Iran at this time.

In response to this you have seen many Iranians turn to two social networking sites, Youtube and Twitter, to get news out about what’s going on on the streets (Youtube video) and information on what, where, when, how, and why etc. (Twitter). For their part, Youtube has even relaxed content restrictions and Twitter has foregone maintenance schedules in an effort to keep the viral tools available to Iranians.

One of the better Iranian information outlets we were keeping an eye on, TehranLive.org, has not updated since the 17th which has left us unsettled. Please click HERE to go see some of the stunning images posted by a 7 Times the Speed of LIFE Observer half a world away…

We support all of our Iranian brothers and sister during this time of confusion and sorrow. They face a very uphill battle. We only wish we could do more.

Poem before the storm:

Protest:

Candidate MEHDI KARROUBI campaign ad previous to the election:

For those of you wondering, the green armbands and ribbons that you see many Iranians displaying represent a show of support for the reform candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi. Mousavi has rejected the election results and has adamantly claimed voting irregularities (he supposedly lost in his home region).

It’s Official: ISRAEL, EUROPE Within Range Of New IRANIAN Missle

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Iran test-fired a new advanced missile Wednesday with a range of about 1,200 miles, far enough to strike Israel and southeastern Europe.

Most Western analysts believe Iran does not yet have the technology to produce nuclear weapons, including warheads for long-range missiles. However, many Western nations and Israel believe it is seeking such capabilities and could achieve that within five to 10 years.

The Israeli military is preparing itself to launch a massive aerial assault on Iran’s nuclear facilities within days of being given the go-ahead by its new government.

Two nationwide civil defence drills will help to prepare the public for the retaliation that Israel could face.

A visit by President Obama to Israel in June is expected to coincide with the national elections in Iran — timing that would allow the US Administration to re-evaluate diplomatic resolutions with Iran before hearing the Israeli position.

President OBAMA Teabagged? Conservative Anti-Reaction To Massive Spending And Projected Debt Takes To The Streets

Thousands of anti-tax “tea party” protesters took to the streets Wednesday in some of the nation’s biggest cities — including Boston, Tulsa and Sacramento — voicing their opposition to high taxes and big government spending.

Close to 2,000 demonstrators in Boston — some dressed in colonial wigs with tea bags hanging from their glasses — held signs and read speeches lambasting government spending since President Obama took office.

The demonstrations are part of a larger grassroots movement against government spending called Taxed Enough Already, or TEA — giving name to the Tax Day Tea Parties — and come more than 235 years after the original Boston Tea Party revolt against taxes.

Obama seized the opportunity to defend his tax policy Wednesday, saying, “Make no mistake: this tax cut will reach 120 million families and put $120 billion directly into their pockets, and it includes the most American workers ever to get a tax cut. This will boost demand, and save or create over half a million jobs.”

Left-wing media is in full-court mock mode so no help there. Check out the on-the-scene coverage by The Huffington Post HERE and a stunningly awful opinion piece by Paul “The True Patriot” Begala HERE.

With the Democrats and Republicans distracted by their hate for each other and love for playing the whole “who has the louder sheep!?” (a la ANIMAL FARM) game we have a few seconds here to ask a few serious questions just you and I that are being ignored here on THRALL WORLD.

Are the Tea-Party protests the natural anti-reaction to the massive spending budget and the projected multi-trillion dollar debt? Whether or not you love or hate the Paris Hiltons of the world (as Begala put it) the question remains: Is multi-Trillion dollar debt sustainable? Is that the BEST plan our elected leaders were able to come up with?

Is there ANY other way?

In a major departure from previous policy, the United States will join direct talks between U.N. and European powers and Iran over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Read all about the proposed historical U.S. – IRANIAN Talks HERE.

Call me a wee bit cynical but I think the Iranians and Koreans have their hearts set on those little fluffy nukes. One for every boy and every girl.

Go for it President OBAMA. In it to win it after all… Maybe the talks will be enough to delay the Israelis from putting The Final Smackdown on the Iranians (or vice versa) until post-2012…

Crimes Against Humanity?
Source: CNN.com

Exxon Mobil once again reported the largest quarterly profit in U.S. history Thursday, posting net income of $11.68 billion on revenue of $138 billion in the second quarter.

That profit works out to $1,485.55 a second.

That barely beat the previous corporate record of $11.66 billion, also set by Exxon in the fourth quarter of 2007.

Well at least SOMEones making ends meet during this time of economic hardship… wait… Anyone got an old rusty dull-bladed guillotine laying around in their basement somewhere?

Is A New WAR In SOUTH AMERICA Imminent? HUGO CHAVEZ Sends Troops to Border

CARACAS, Venezuela – Hundreds of Venezuelan troops deployed for the Colombian border on Tuesday under orders from President Hugo Chavez, who is sending about 9,000 soldiers to the frontier.

Hundreds of troops were seen boarding four buses and eight trucks at the Paramaracay base in the central city of Valencia on Tuesday morning, headed for the border.

The Venezuelan military has been tightlipped about the movement of troops since Sunday, when Chavez ordered 10 battalions to the border, including tanks.

Chavez deployed troops in response to Colombia’s killing of a top rebel leader on Ecuadorean soil over the weekend. Ecuador has also sent troops to its border with Colombia, denouncing the military strike as a violation of its sovereignty.

Venezuela’s military currently has about 100,000 regular troops and a growing force of reservists that now totals 280,000, said Muller, who in retirement is vice president of Chavez’s socialist party.

Colombia’s U.S.-backed military has 255,000 regular troops and 62,000 reservists, according to the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies.

Lots of movement by the covertly declared Enemies of America with both Iran and Venezuela thumbing their noses at the United States and Russia and China playing along by blocking Western backed sanctions on nuclear weapons coveting Iran at the United Nations.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad while on a visit to Iraq just yesterday commented ‘Nobody likes Americans’. While Venezuelan nutjob Hugo Chavez loves to drop the B-Bomb (spelled: B-U-S-H) anytime his popularity at home drops due to the crap state of their domestic affairs.

Iran and Venezuela are clearly in cahoots and see a weak spot in the belly of the ‘evil’ United States Dragon with their proximity and influence on the worlds oil reserves.

So what’s the big plan here people? Does ‘Our true enemy has yet to reveal himself’ sound familiar? Are Ahmadinejad and Chavez really just Pawns of Distraction for the Chinese or the re-emerging Russians? Will the Bush haters finally be happy in 20 or so odd years when World influence bubbles up from these two countries instead of the United States? Will World Peace truly stand a better chance?

Do you see a changed United States of America in the years to come with the weakening dollar, terrorist organizations who run rampant and refuse to have cookies and milk chats to discuss their feelings of hate of the U.S., and our reliance on oil forever jeoparadized by questionably motivated dictators of countries that flip us the finger just because they need someone to blame? That Great Satan Scapegoat Battlecry that everyone in the World (and even some of our own misplaced guilt ridden Americana crybabies) can rally around?

Can’t help but think what a cluster-fuck of a job the next President of the United States will face over the next four years.

Cast your vote wisely people.
