Paramount Pictures has set a June 10, 2011 release date for J.J. Abrams’ secretive Super 8, starring Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Ron Eldard, Noah Emmerich, Joel Courtney, Riley Griffiths, Ryan Lee, Zach Mills, Gabriel Basso and AJ Michalka.

Well if it wasn’t apparent before it would seem to be now.. Giant monster movies of the Godzilla/King Kong type are officially back in style with recent movies like CLOVERFIELD, MONSTERS, and even SKYLINE

The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnet Releasing, genre arm of Magnolia Pictures announced today that it has acquired World rights excluding Europe to writer/director André Ovredal’s The Troll Hunter, produced by John M. Jacobsen and Sveinung Golimo.

Shot in a vérité style, The Troll Hunter is the story of a group of Norwegian film students that set out to capture real-life trolls on camera after learning their existence has been covered up for years by a government conspiracy.

One of THRALL WORLD‘s most anticipated movies for this Fall. Check out the new trailer below.

Six years ago NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon re-entry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and grow. In an effort to stem the destruction that resulted, half of Mexico was quarantined as an INFECTED ZONE. Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain the massive creatures… Our story begins when a jaded US journalist (McNairy) begrudgingly agrees to find his boss’ daughter, a shaken American tourist (Able) and escort her through the infected zone to the safety of the US border.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and set for a limited U.S. release on October 29th, 2010 and a UK release on November 12th, 2010, ‘MONSTERS’ stars; Scoot McNairy and Whitney Able. More details as we are made aware.

Pity those south of the border! As if we all didn’t have enough to deal with just crossing the border in search of work and getting caught in the crossfire of ongoing drug wars. Gareth Edwards new indie flick smackes everyone upside their collective cajones with the plight of extra-terrestrial mega baddies intent on making the northern half of Mexico their official barrio away from barrio..

New STAR TREK movie right around the corner. LEONARD NIMOY talks all about it HERE. A few excerpts below.

Leonard Nimoy on what to expect from the new ‘STAR TREK’ movie:

“It’s a story that’s never been told. And I think it’s told very, very well.”

“The script really captures the essence of those characters and brings them together in a very entertaining, very exciting way.”

On ZACHARY QUINTO:

“I think very highly of Zack Quinto. I think he’s a very good actor. What I’ve seen of the movie, I think he does a wonderful job, as does the rest of the crew. I think they’re all very, very good in their roles.”

On ZACHARY QUINTO playing SPOCK:

“The Spock that he’s playing is a Spock that existed before the Spock that I played. He was younger, not quite so experienced, and therefore somewhat different.”
