Source: SciFiWire.com
Warner Brothers is giving Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of Watchmen—which will have an additional 25 minutes of footage, including the death of a supporting character—a limited theatrical run one week before Comic-Con International in San Diego.

Go see it if you get a chance. Better than the recent ‘Terminator Salvation’ movie. Better than the new ‘Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen’ (judging by the reviews), and billions upon billions of times better than the pitiful ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’. WATCHMEN is THEE super hero movie of the year! The critics were abhorantly WRONG about the movie.
Trust me. The missing squid is not going to ruin the Watchmen movie experience for you.

ANGELINA JOLIE
Source: ComingSoon.net , MovieHole.net
Angelina Jolie is now in “serious talks”… to star in director Robert Rodroguez’s “Sin City 2”…
Jolie would play the iniquitous Ava, the lead character in Miller’s “A Dame to Kill For” story.
In the graphic novel, Ava is an ex-lover of Dwight McCarthy (Clive Owen) who manipulates men through her good looks and her supposed innocence.

I recently saw CLIVE OWEN in THE INTERNATIONAL which I really liked. Owen and IAN MCSHANE are probably my two favorite guys out there right now.

Warner Bros. made the announcement Friday afternoon, saying that the combined domestic and international gross had totaled $1,001,082,160 to date — about $533 million domestically and $567 million overseas.
Only “Titanic,” with $1.8 billion, “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” have topped the billion-dollar worldwide mark previously.

‘THE DARK KNIGHT’ director, CHRISTOPHER NOLAN, just this week announced his next movie will be the science fiction action film, ‘INCEPTION’ , which should push back any possible sequel to 2011 at the earliest. I’m thinking it will be closer to 2012. The length of time between Bat movies doesn’t really concern me as Nolan is going to need some time to plan his next move.

Marvel has been low balling some of the talent they’ve been approaching money-wise, probably on the theory that their movies are so high profile. Reports are that Samuel L. Jackson may not return as Nick Fury and Terrence Howard definitely isn’t coming back as Rhodey. The wait-and-see is in full effect.

Because Emily Blunt’s commitment to Twentieth Century Fox and the studio’s upcoming Gulliver’s Travels movie may prohibit her from costarring in Iron Man 2, Marvel is in discussions with other actresses, most significantly Scarlett Johansson, to take her place.
Blunt’s reps are still trying to make both projects work.

Warner Bros. is negotiating with Martin Campbell to direct “Green Lantern,” the live-action film based on the DC Comics hero. Campbell last directed “Casino Royale” and recently wrapped the Mel Gibson starrer “Edge of Darkness,” based on the 1985 BBC miniseries that Campbell helmed. THE WATCHMEN movie will hit theaters on March 6th, 2009
Source: The Hollywood Reporter, Matthew Belloni, Borys Kit
Warner Bros. and Fox have resolved their dispute over “Watchmen,” with the studios scheduled to present a settlement to Judge Gary Feess this morning and request that the case be dismissed.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but the deal is said to involve a sizable cash payment to Fox and a percentage of the film’s boxoffice grosses; Fox will not be a co-distributor on the film, nor will it co-own the “Watchmen” property, but it will share in revenue derived from it. The studios released a joint statement last night.

THE WATCHMEN movie will hit theaters on March 6th, 2009 (or will it??)
Source: The Hollywood Reporter, Borys Kit
A scheduled Tuesday court conference between Fox and Warner Bros. attorneys has been canceled, fueling talk that a settlement in the contentious “Watchmen” case is imminent.
Fox sued Warners last February, saying the Burbank-based studio infringed on its rights to make the comic book adaptation.
Fox is asking for upfront fees as well as a percentage of the back-end.
Read more HERE .
What’s interesting is that the article states that the judge involved has previously blocked a Warner Brothers movie for the same type of copyright snafu. The big difference here is the amount of money WB has invested in ‘WATCHMEN’. FOX is going to end up with a nice chunk of change…

SAMUEL L. JACKSON

Samuel L. Jackson, clearly bristling, said today that negotiations to put him in the role of Nick Fury have broken down because “there seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world.”
Jackson told me today that despite his cameo as the hard-bitten military man at the end of “Iron Man,” it now appears that “somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won’t be in it”.

HEATH LEDGER As The JOKER In 'THE DARK KNIGHT'
Source: Yahoo, David Germain
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – Heath Ledger won the supporting-actor Golden Globe on Sunday nearly a year after his death, earning the prize for his diabolical turn as the Joker in the Batman blockbuster “The Dark Knight.”
The award was accepted by the film’s director/co-screenwriter, Christopher Nolan, who said he and his collaborators were buoyed by the enormous acclaim and acceptance the film and Ledger’s performance have gained worldwide.
