The drummer for 80s glam band Poison was arrested on a rape warrant issued out of Mississippi as he arrived at LAX after getting off a flight from New Zealand, police said.
Rikki Rockett, 46, was arrested Monday at the airport and booked into the Los Angeles County Jail, according to Los Angeles police and the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department’s Inmate Information Web site. He was held on a strong-arm rape warrant stemming from Neshoba County, Missisippi, and appears to have been released from L.A. County custody, the Sheriff’s Web site shows.

David Peisner, the Maxim freelance writer responsible for penning a negative review of the BLACK CROWES’ new album without hearing the whole CD, has released a statement to the Los Angeles Times music blog “Soundboard” distancing himself from the controversy.
Peisner writes: “I’m a freelance writer. I was assigned to write previews of the BLACK CROWES and NAS albums. I did that. When the issue came out, the previews were laid out as reviews complete with star ratings. I never at any point or to anyone claimed to have heard these albums in their entirety. Whatever decisions Maxim made after I turned in my work were beyond my control.”
BLACK CROWES manager Pete Angelus had this to say about Peisner’s statement, in a phone interview with “Soundboard”:
“There’s no accountability for Dave Peisner, editor James Kaminsky or Maxim magazine. They issued a partial apology to their readership, but no apology directly to the artist whose work they denigrated without having heard more than one song, while attempting to pass it off as an album review. I think Peisner’s claim is absurd. He wrote a review of music that he never heard, he disparaged both the band and the material. He said, ‘It hasn’t left Chris Robinson and the gang much room for growth,’ and yet now he’s going to attempt to pass off his actions on Maxim? Absurd.”
“Warpaint”, the BLACK CROWES’ first album in seven years, is set for release March 4. The blues-rock group, fronted by Chris Robinson, has released only one song from the disc, “Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution”.

NEW YORK - Maxim magazine has apologized for publishing a negative review of the Black Crowes’ new album by a writer who hadn’t listened to the whole CD.
The review in Maxim’s March issue gives the Crowes’ “Warpaint” a rating of two-and-a-half stars out of five. The band posted an exasperated statement on its Web site last week saying the Maxim writer hadn’t heard the entire album because advance copies weren’t available. The Crowes’ manager, Pete Angelus, said the magazine explained that its review was an “educated guess.”
Maxim editorial director James Kaminsky responded Tuesday with this statement: “It is Maxim’s editorial policy to assign star ratings only to those albums that have been heard in their entirety. Unfortunately, that policy was not followed in the March 2008 issue of our magazine and we apologize to our readers.”
A spokeswoman for the magazine contacted by The Associated Press declined to say whether the writer would face disciplinary action.
“Warpaint,” the Black Crowes’ first album in seven years, is set for release March 4. The blues-rock group, fronted by Chris Robinson, has released only one song from the disc, “Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution.”
The band’s hits include “Hard to Handle” and “She Talks to Angels.”

Hmmph… Nothing new to add other than the editor who filed thebogus review should be named and of course demoted to lifetime latrine duty, not for the Black Crowes sake, but more for all of the reviewers who sit through movies and music they genuinely don’t like and still manage some honest feedback.

NEW YORK –The Black Crowes are lashing out at Maxim magazine for reviewing the band’s new album - apparently without actually hearing it first.
The review, published in Maxim’s March issue, gives the Crowes’ “Warpaint” a rating of two-and-a-half stars out of five.
“The writer - who has not heard the album since advance CDs were not made available - wrote what appears to be a disparaging assessment anyway, citing, ‘it hasn’t left Chris Robinson and the gang much room for growth,’” said a statement on the band’s official Web site.
The band’s manager, Pete Angelus, said the magazine explained that its review was an “educated guess.”
“It speaks directly to the lack of the publication’s credibility,” Angelus said in a statement. “In my opinion, it’s a disgrace to the arts, journalism, critics, the publication itself and the public. What’s next - Maxim’s concert reviews of shows they never attended, book reviews of books never read and film reviews of films never seen?”
A representative for the magazine would not confirm or deny to The Associated Press whether the writer actually listened to the album. Instead, Maxim released this statement in response: “Maxim will continue to provide our readers with information that is important to them, whether it is about fashion, lifestyle, technology, music, movies and more.”
“Warpaint,” the band’s first album in seven years, is set for release March 4. The blues-rock group, fronted by Chris Robinson, has released only one song from the disc, “Goodbye Daughters of the Revolution.”

F*** MAXIM Magazine. The explanation of the bogus review as an ‘educated guess’ is not just insulting to the band (and seriously folks I have no opinion on The Black Crowes by any stretch of the imagination) but to the two and a half million monthly discriminating (spelled: lol) readers of the wonderful periodical itself.
Is it that shocking that a journalist who indulged a little too much with the cocaine and strippers over the weekend while yelping “F*** muh deadlines… Imma party like a Rock Star and F*** like a Porn star’ would file a bogus review for a CD he hadn’t even heard? I don’t think so.
A good question to ask oneself though is if people are buying Maxim Magazine for journalistic integrity or is it just an ‘edgy’ girl-on-girl picture book with those annoying doodles in the corner of the page aka WORDS.
If opinions are like assholes then Maxim is a shitty irregular asshole that you can’t count on or take seriously. And in a world where we the people need to rely on our asshole, Maxim is NOT there for us.
So somebody please get Maxim Magazine’s editorial staff some of that new fangled Super Colon Cleanse. Maybe that’ll help.

Source: NBC and myself (I watched the last ten minutes of the show by complete accident).
Legendary KISS bassist, Gene Simmons, was fired from Donald Trump’s show “The Apprentice: Celebrity Edition” on this weeks episode.
Trump seemed mildy annoyed jockeying for Supreme Alpha on his own show and even gave Simmons a couple of openings to acknowledge his approach to the project at hand, a Kodak marketing campaign, wasn’t the best.
Simmons, however, insisted his way was the right way and even quipped that Kodak was wrong (!) before Trump used his own trademarked equivalent of the battle-axe, ‘You’re fired’, on the rock star.

LAS VEGAS - An angry judge doubled O.J. Simpson’s bail to $250,000 on Wednesday for violating terms of his original bail by attempting to contact a co-defendant in his armed robbery case.
Simpson, clad in jail attire, grimaced as the amount was announced and meekly acknowledged that he understood.
“I don’t know Mr. Simpson what the heck you were thinking — or maybe that’s the problem — you weren’t,” Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass told Simpson.
“I don’t know if it’s just arrogance. I don’t know if it’s ignorance. But you’ve been locked up at the Clark County Detention Center since Friday because of arrogance or ignorance — or both.”
Glass said that the initial court order to not contact other defendants was clear and she warned that if anything else happened Simpson would be locked up.

Ouch! That’s a $125,000 bitch-slap.

LOS ANGELES - Television’s “Dr. Phil” McGraw has pulled the plug on plans for a one-hour show that was to examine Britney Spears’ latest public meltdown.
In a statement posted Monday on his Web site, McGraw said the 26-year-old pop star’s situation was “too intense” for him to go forward with the show. He didn’t say whether he planned to reschedule.
Spears was hospitalized Thursday night after a child custody dispute with ex-husband Kevin Federline resulted in an hours-long standoff with police. On Friday, a court commissioner gave sole physical and legal custody of 1-year-old Jayden James and 2-year-old Sean Preston to Federline.
McGraw said he met with Spears for an hour Saturday before she left the hospital.

Reports: Dr. Phil says Spears released from hospital
Reports: Dr. Phil McGraw says Britney Spears needs psychological help
Police were called to her home Thursday night to mediate a custody dispute
Spears taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
Court gives Kevin Federline sole custody
LOS ANGELES, California (AP) — Television’s “Dr. Phil” McGraw said Britney Spears was released from a hospital Saturday but still needs psychological help, the syndicated programs “Entertainment Tonight” and “The Insider” reported in a press release.
The troubled pop star was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by paramedics Thursday night after police were called to her home because of a dispute involving the two sons she had with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
“My meeting with Britney and some family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention,” McGraw told the programs.
“She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her,” he said.
McGraw planned to talk more about Spears on his daytime talk show this week, the press release said.

NEW YORK - Lynne Spears’ book about parenting has been delayed indefinitely, her publisher said Wednesday. Lindsey Nobles, a spokeswoman for Christian book publisher Thomas Nelson Inc., said Wednesday that the memoir by the mother of Britney Spears was put on hold last week.
She declined to comment on whether the delay was connected to the revelation that Spears’ 16-year-old daughter, Jamie Lynn, is pregnant.
“I can tell you that we are standing behind Lynne and supporting her decision to be with her family at this time,” Nobles told The Associated Press.
“Pop Culture Mom: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World” was initially scheduled for release May 11, Mother’s Day. Spears, the mother of three children with ex-husband Jamie Spears, had been working with a Michigan-based freelancer since March on the memoir chronicling Spears’ experiences raising a family in the public eye.
Jamie Lynn Spears, star of Nickelodeon’s “Zoey 101″ and sister of Britney, told OK! magazine in its new issue that she’s expecting her first child and the father is boyfriend Casey Aldridge.
Nobles and representatives for Britney Spears said they did not know how Lynne Spears could be reached for comment about the status of her book.
