Hello to everyone. Quick update here on what’s been happening..
Had my friend CHRIS EMERY (AMERICAN HEAD CHARGE) to lay down some drums. Managed to get 7 of the 14 BEAUTY IN THE SUFFERING songs we were aiming for. Very pleased we got that far. Was a pretty crazy session overall in terms of how many tracks we were shooting for. We just dove right in and got as many as we could before our ears threw in the towel.
PROVO PROVENZANO (EVERYBODY PANIC!, RIKETS, SKINLAB) was ace behind the board!
The picture is from about 10 hours into the 15 hour session. More pictures in the days ahead.
Very happy with everything overall. Can’t wait to get started on the rest of the tracking! Thanks as always for your support!
“The main thing about Dredd is that it’s a fantastic comic that was completely messed up 20 years ago,” said Macdonald. “Our idea is to make a very hard, R-rated, gritty, realistic movie of Dredd in Megacity, so we’ve got to get the tone right. He’s not going to take off his helmet. His bike is going to feel real. He’s going to hit people and it’s going to feel real.”
‘X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE’ was utter shit but you really gotta hand it to HUGH JACKMAN. That he seems to love the character is of little doubt – and that’s a refreshing change of pace taking into consideration a Marvel property like HULK.
Bringing Aronofky on board shows that Jackman wants to make the Wolverine movie we all want to see. Now let’s see if they can deliver.
On The Set With 'TRANSFORMERS 3: THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON'

The Machine-Metal mavens – currently in-studio – have also posted two new song titles; “WELCOME TO YOUR HOLIDAY” and “THE VERY SAD FATE OF MISS DESDEMONA ANTOINETTE MARCEAUX“, both of which are expected to be key tracks on an as yet untitled self-produced new release.
“The rust is burning off the gears as the machine heats up,” multi-instrumentalist and vocalist NIKK SKUM noted. “We’ve been spring-loaded for awhile now. Once this train leaves the station, it’s not stopping till the end of the line…”
The band will be re-teaming up with JEFF VEREB (SMASHING PUMPKINS) for the final mix. Vereb was the mix engineer behind the ‘MachiNation‘ album as well as the tracks that appeared on THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS and RECALIBRATED box sets.
The principle songwriting tandem of producers DIETRICH THRALL and NIKK SKUM have largely kept a low profile since the tragic loss of co-founding member KRISTOPHER “KRISTOV” KEMP in early 2009 to a three year battle with colon cancer. In recent months however the members have been dropping hints as to demo progress while putting the finishing touches on the follow-up to 2007′s critically regarded ‘MachiNation’ album.
MARAZENE MACHINE won over industry insiders and fans Nationwide with their explosive, high-energy performances while touring the U.S. and Canada 100% DIY in 2006-2008 with such acts as MUSHROOMHEAD, THE HUMAN ABSTRACT, PSYCLON NINE, DEADSTAR ASSEMBLY, and WEDNESDAY 13.
“As of October 26, JAY GORDON will be leaving the original band ORGY.
We don’t know what this means for the future of ORGY, but we are assuming that Jay intends to release new music under the name ORGY. We don’t know if Jay has a new band waiting in the wings to replace us, or if he plans on doing it all on his own — but we do know that Jay is a talented writer, and we are sure that he will come up with something great.
Over the last few years we have tried to get the band together and tour or write new music — even though we are juggling multiple businesses as well as three original music projects (JULIEN-K, DEAD BY SUNRISE, and CIRCUIT FREQ), we have always been willing to make time for ORGY.
It saddens us that Jay is choosing to carry on the ORGY name without his brothers that helped build and create that name, but we truly wish him all the best.
Thank you all for your continued support on the many projects that we are all involved in, and for being our friends, family, and fans over the years.”
With Darren Aronofsky directing, [HUGH JACKMAN] says that Wolverine 2 will not be a “usual” X-Men movie:
“This is, hopefully for me, going to be out of the box. It’s going to be the best one, I hope.”
Also:
“Chris McQuarrie, who wrote THE USUAL SUSPECTS, has written the script, so that’ll give you a good clue [as to overall tone of the movie between screenwriter and director].”

A recent quote from ALEX GARLAND – best known for writing the novel THE BEACH, and scripting the Danny Boyle-directed scifi film SUNSHINE and 28 DAYS LATER. – indicates that a 3rd installment of the zombie-plague movie – possibly called 28 MONTHS LATER – was in developmental hell:
“When we made ’28 Days Later,’ the rights were frozen between a group of people who are no longer talking to each other. And so, the film is never going to happen unless those people start talking to each other again. There is no script as far as I’m aware.”
Despite that, director DANNY BOYLE has indicated that the movie may indeed be moving forward:
“There’s another 28 Days Later in the works.” When asked if the title would be 28 Months Later, Boyle replied “In theory, yes.” Immediately the next question was if he’d be producing, to which Boyle responded, “Actually I want to direct it.”
Zack Snyder has been chosen to direct the new installment of Superman for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. Snyder was on a short list of directors that I recently revealed met with the studio as well as producers Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas. Other choices at the time included helmers Tony Scott, Matt Reeves, Jonathan Liebesman, and Duncan Jones.
Said Snyder:
“I’ve been a big fan of the character for a long time, he’s definitely the king of all superheroes, he’s the one. It’s early yet, but I can tell you that what David and Chris have done with the story so far definitely has given me a great insight into a way to make him feel modern. I’ve always felt he was kind of awesome. I’ll finish Sucker Punch and get right at it.”
Also from Snyder:
“I defintely expressed my love for the character and interest in seeing him treated right. The character deserves to be loved. It’s his time.”
Also an update on the villian that SUPERMAN will be facing in the film:
Goyer is writing the script, which is rumored to have, like “Superman Returns,” a Richard Donner Superman connection. In the movie’s case, it’s a villain connection: General Zod.
Snyder proved without a doubt his understanding of epic comic book characters in the super hero world with his very underrated and unduly criticized take on ‘WATCHMEN’. ’300′ was also a fantastic translation of the FRANK MILLER retelling as was the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake. The upcoming SUCKER PUNCH and the animated LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA’HOOLE look impressive from a distance… Throw in the producing savvy of one CHRISTOPHER NOLAN and SUPERMAN could very well top THE DARK KNIGHT in terms of story and all around amazingness.
A tall order? Sure. But these are two of the best visionaries out there right now so if anyone were be able to leap tall stories in a single bound it would be them.
SUPERMAN teaming up with super-producer CHRISTOPHER NOLAN and super-director ZACK SNYDER
“It’s becoming inevitable, I’ll put it that way,” says Nolan. “I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I’m pretty excited about what we’re doing so… If I haven’t announced it, I think that people probably all know at this point that I’m doing it.”
And:
“I think you can at this point, yes [I will be directing BATMAN 3].”
According to Sir MICHAEL CAINE who is expected to reprise his role as Bruce Waynes mentor/butler Alfred, filming will –
“probably start in May next year…”
And finally:
Chris [Nolan] and co-writer Jonathan Nolan are not telling anyone who the villain will be in the new film.
THRALL WORLD would love to see Nolan tackle the KNIGHTFALL storyline so we would say BANE!! But the whole point of Nolan’s so-far incredible BATMAN retelling was the YEAR ONE BATMAN and BANE didn’t show up on in GOTHAM until Year 10 (???) or something like that.
CHICAGO, IL (DLSP) — October 2010 will herald the long-awaited return of Chicago’s MARAZENE MACHINE (formerly MARAZENE)!
The Machine-Metal Mavens, now fully embracing their distinct Electro-Metal Revolutionary tendencies, will hit the studio in the coming weeks to hammer out the final tracking on songs expected to be appear on an as yet untitled new release and have opted to once again self produce.
The band will also be re-teaming up with JEFF VEREB (SMASHING PUMPKINS) for the final mix. Vereb was the mix engineer behind the ‘MachiNation’ album as well as the tracks that appeared on THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS and RECALIBRATED box sets.
The principle songwriting tandem of producers DIETRICH THRALL and NIKK SKUM have largely kept a low profile since the tragic loss of co-founding member KRISTOPHER “KRISTOV” KEMP in early 2009 to a three year battle with colon cancer. Will a return to the spotlight with the new album spell out a return to the big stage? Said DieTrich:
“Our fans have been with us the whole way with undying and unconditional support and we are incredibly happy to have them on board with us as we prepare to plunge over the edge and into the unknown for this next big ride..”
Trent Reznor says HBO and BBC Worldwide Productions are moving forward with the development of “Year Zero,” the grim sci-fi epic that Reznor has chronicled in his music as well as in a celebrated Alternate Reality Game (ARG).
“We are in [the development phase of] pre-production with HBO and BBC [Worldwide Productions] to do a miniseries,” Reznor said.
Reznor is working with the team of Lawrence Bender, best known for producing Quentin Tarantino films such as “Pulp Fiction,” “Inglourious Basterds” and ”Reservoir Dogs“ as well as the documentaries “An Inconvenient Truth” and “Countdown to Zero,” and Kevin Kelly Brown, who was executive producer on “Roswell.“
“Year Zero” takes place approximately 15 years in the future, with the U.S. a religious dictatorship and the world on the brink of environmental and social collapse. Reznor has indicated that he’d be interested in a film version of the story, and has also hinted at a recorded sequel at some point.
Then again, we all saw the mediocre after-the-fact 3D conversion of the CLASH OF THE TITANS remake. Lucasfilm seems aware of the potential for a let down:
“Getting good results on a stereo conversion is a matter of taking the time and getting it right,” said John Knoll, Visual Effects Supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic. “It takes a critical and artistic eye along with an incredible attention to detail to be successful. It is not something that you can rush if you want to expect good results. For Star Wars we will take our time, applying everything we know both aesthetically and technically to bring audiences a fantastic new Star Wars experience.”
DARREN ARONOFSKY: reportedly in the running as director of the new SUPERMAN movie

Lots of noise about the upcoming SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL movie being produced by CHRISTOPHER NOLAN. Hot topic is who will direct? THRALL WORLD posted a handful of leading contenders a couple of days ago that included DUNCAN JONES, JONATHAN LIEBESMAN, MATT REEVES, TONY SCOTT, and ZACK SNYDER.
Here’s the latest:
The derby to helm the Christopher Nolan-produced Man of Steel pic has become the talk of the town. Nolan is knee-deep in the selection process, and he and producer/wife Emma Thomas will be heavily involved in the movie, so he’s looking for a director who is able to handle the elaborate production and willing to collaborate.
“Willing to collaborate” is new. A bigger role for Nolan as the movie is realized. This can only be a good thing.
BEN AFLLECK was apparently on the short list:
..extremely popular at Warners after making “The Town,” a critical and box-office hit. But according to insiders, the actor-director — who, ironically, once portrayed the actor who played Superman on TV in “Hollywoodland” — met about “Superman” last week but is nolonger pursuing it.
DARREN ARONOFSKY also:
..riding high on buzz generated by his upcoming “Black Swan,” is still in active talks, according to sources. But it’s early.
10 years have passed in the story. “I kind of gave up my job as the entertainment journalist,” [said] Cox Arquette. “I’m bored with my life and my marriage.” Sidney Prescott’s (Neve Campbell) return to town leads to more murders, which reenergize Gale. “Things start happening, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has confirmed that discussions are already in the works to have Scarlett Johansson reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff in a Black Widow spinoff film, though the project will take a backburner while The Avengers is in development.
“We’ve already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts,” said Feige in a press conference for the Iron Man 2 Blu-ray/DVD today, “but ‘The Avengers’ comes first.”
Rob Zombie has committed to make The Lords of Salem his next directorial outing.
The thriller is set in contemporary Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches. Zombie will write the script while on his upcoming concert tour circuit, and will shoot next year.
The title is culled from the song track of the same name featured on Zombie’s “Educated Horses” album. Zombie intended to create a “Lords of Salem” band or comic book with Steve Niles. Neither came to fruition, but a cool animated video was created for the song, illustrated by David Hartman.
Zombie changed his plans to bring back The Blob because after directing two movies inspired by the 1978 John Carpenter fright classic Halloween, he couldn’t bear playing the comparison game again.
“I wanted to break away from anything related to preexisting material,” he said. “The remake train is getting pretty tired now and when I made Halloween, everybody complained, either that it was too much like the original or too different. I like that people either love or hate what I do because it’s better than being in the middle, which means forgettable. But when you do an original premise, they take it on face value and after three years of not being able to win on Halloween, I just couldn’t go through that again.”
After a six-year hiatus, A Perfect Circle will reconvene in November for a West Coast theater tour. The long-awaited shows feature a surprise for hardcore fans: the band will play all three of their albums in their entirety in each city.
