Those known to be on the list with [John] Krasinski include Michael Cassidy (who appeared in”Smallvile” and who tested for the Superman movie when McG was going to direct it), Patrick Flueger (one of the stars of “The 4400″ who most recently appeared in the Tobey Maguire movie “Brothers”), Scott Porter (TV’s “Friday Night Lights”) and Mike Vogel (“Cloverfield”).
Chace Crawford is also in talks to screen test, though no deal has been made.
Garret Hedlund, already starring in Disney’s “Tron,” was also on the list to test but has fallen off, at least for now, because of scheduling conflicts. Insiders say he may still make the testing round. Jensen Ackles is another actor who had scheduling conflicts.
The studio has put the actors on 30-day holds during the testing process.
One more interesting note:
So far, no British or Australian actors have been seriously considered though the search could widen if no suitable candidates are found.
BRANDON ROUTH: No longer expected to star in the next SUPERMAN movie - likely titled 'THE MAN OF STEEL'
Source: LatinoReview.com
Are we finally starting to see some real movement on a SUPERMAN movie? Maybe so. Here’s the latest:
* The talented David Stephen Goyer, the man who made sure Nolan stuck to the legend of [The] Dark Knight, has been hired to write the next chapter.
* Thomas Tull, the head of Legendary… went to Goyer and Goyer had an idea that actually takes the movies back to the John Byrne incarnation. Modern. Believable. FUN!
* The film will not be called Superman and will be called THE MAN OF STEEL.
* Brandon Routh will not star in the film.
* Bryan Singer is not expected to direct.
Rumored plot details: Goyer’s story involves Luthor and Brainiac. It is NOT an origin and assumes audiences already know about Lois, Clark, Jimmy and Perry. I know the Daily Planet is struggling due to the internet. And I know it sets up a huge Kryptonian mythology.
Mickey Rourke is in negotiations to play Conan’s father in Lionsgate’s “Conan” movie.

Shooting is scheduled to start in Bulgaria in March.
The story sees Conan embark on a quest to avenge the slaughter of his people including his father, Corin.
Filmmaker and musician Rob Zombie will bring his unique style of filmmaking to the streets of Miami on an episode of “CSI: Miami”, to be broadcast next Monday, March 1 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET/PT) on the CBS television network. FEAR FACTORY guitarist DINO CAZARES talks about the new album and touches on some of the ongoing legal issues in a new interview – one of the more interesting reveals below:
“When Burt asked me to come back to the band, he actually asked me to come back to the band as a whole. That is, with also the other members as well [Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera]. But the other two turned it down because they didn’t want me back in the band.”

Interesting – if somewhat odd – reveals from one HUGO WEAVING (MATRIX Trilogy, LORD OF THE RINGS Trilogy):
As the voice of Megatron, one imagines how into the series Weaving is, but just how deeply immersed he is becomes clear when discussing the next instalment.
“Oh no,” he barks with a laugh. “They’re not making Transformers III, are they?” Given that Transformers II made $800 million, they’re probably going to have to.
“[Director] Michael Bay talks to me on the phone. I’ve never met him. We were doing the voice for the second one and I still hadn’t seen the first one. I still didn’t really know who the characters were and I didn’t know what anything was. It’s a voice job, for sure, and people assume I’ve spent my life working on it, but I really know so little about it.”
Martin Scorsese is keen to revive a cinematic partnership with Robert De Niro that goes back to “Mean Streets” nearly 40 years ago and says the project will be related to the mobster world.
“Bob De Niro (and I) are talking about something that has to do with that world. There’s no doubt about that. We’re working on something like that, but it’s from the vantage point of older men looking back, none of this running around stuff.”
The Hollywood heavyweights last worked together on “Casino” in 1995.
Vin Diesel is going back to the future to topline and produce a third chapter in the “Chronicles of Riddick” franchise.
David Twohy — who wrote and directed the first two films in the series, “Pitch Black” and “The Chronicles of Riddick” — will helm from a screenplay he penned.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. But insiders say the third outing will hew closer in tone to the cult hit “Pitch Black” and will focus on the character of Riddick as opposed to the universe he inhabits.
ROB ZOMBIE’s new album, “Hellbilly Deluxe 2″, sold 49,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at position No. 8 on The Billboard 200 chart. “HELLBILLY DELUXE 2″ track listing:
