I was googling/researching for some cast and release date info for what I thought was GUILLERMO DEL TORO’s new vampire movie, ‘THE STRAIN’, and came up empty. A new trailer has been released (which you can view below).
But it turns out, ‘THE STRAIN isn’t a movie. It’s a book that Del Toro wrote with author CHUCK HOGAN.
So then. Check out a sneak-peek “trailer” of Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s The Strain, the start of a new vampire trilogy. More info at www.thestrainthebook.com.

Writer ASHLEY MILLER on how she and writer ZACK STENTZ became involved with the movie:
“We were in the right place at the right time.”
“That we have a background in genre material and an interest in comic books were big plusses, I think. Owning a complete Walt Simonson run on Thor and being able to wax rhapsodic about Beta Ray Bill didn’t hurt our case.”
THOR will be played by CHRIS HEMSWORTH and LOKI will be played by TOM HIDDLESTON in the KENNETH BRANAGH directed movie which serves as a warm-up for the big AVENGERS movie enchilada. Robert Downey Jr. as IRON MAN and an uncast (as of yet) CAPTAIN AMERICA will also star in the movie that is expected to feature a rampaging HULK as the catalyst that will bring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes together for the very first time.
THRALL WORLD observes that the best news in this interview is the writers familiarity with the very storyline that we began with when reading comic books way back in our wee one days. WALT SIMONSON’s “SURTUR SAGA” is damn good reading even if you’re not the biggest fan of comics. Also a mention of the more modern Thor take from ‘THE ULTIMATES’ in the interview.
“It is with great regret that I had to resort to legal action against my long-term partner Tony Iommi, but after three years of trying to resolve this issue amicably, I feel I have no other recourse.
I don’t have the right to speak for Geezer and Bill, but I feel that morally and ethically the trademark should be owned by the four of us equally. I hope that by me taking this first step that it will ultimately end up that way.

JON FAVREAU on TONY STARK (played by Robert Downey Jr.):
“Tony’s expected to be a role model and I don’t think he’s ready to be one. He’s under a great deal of pressure and when you’re under pressure, I think you find outlets for that.”
Probably alluding to the characters on-again / off-again battle with alcoholism as portrayed in the Iron Man comic book…
MICKEY ROURKE on what to expect from his character Whiplash:
“…my Iron Man suit weighs 23lb. It’s sort of a half-suit, with half my skin showing, with lots of Russian tattoos, because [Whiplash is just] out of a Russian-zone prison.”
Currently filming, the JON FAVREAU directed IRON MAN sequel has a release date of May 7th, 2010 and in addition to Downey Jr. stars; Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Kevorkian was convicted of second-degree murder in 1999 as a result of his involvement in an assisted suicide that was videotaped and later shown on TV. He was released from prison in 2007.

Yes… You heard it here not-quite-so-first-ish. Girl visits comic book store and grabs all of the Typhoid Mary comics available. Fan boy comic-book store owner behind counter dishes.
DAREDEVIL movie reboot would be nice since the original with Ben Affleck was utter shit. But as I mentioned before, with any luck it won’t be with FOX whose track record on big budget comic book movies (the recent disaster – X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, FANTASTIC FOUR and its sequel, ELEKTRA, X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN) is in the toilet.
