AXL ROSE Talks More Smack About SLASH In New Interview, “No” APPETITE Era GUNS N’ ROSES Reunion In Sight

February 28, 2009

GUNS N' ROSES: The Only Lineup That Ever Mattered

GUNS N' ROSES: The Only Lineup That Ever Mattered

Source: Spinner.com

SPINNER: “Would you consider a reunion with the ‘Appetite’ or ‘Illusions’ lineups?”

AXL: “No.”

SPINNER: “Why not?”

AXL: “A lot more reasons than I’ll get into here now.”

He actually does get into it in the interview. The interviewer lobbed a few no-nonsense questions and Axl throws a lot of stuff out there in his typical fashion; A bit rambling, full of overwhelming self-importance and self-entitlement, and most sadly for ANYone hoping for him to change his mind about patching things up with Slash; a bit eccentric and out there.

‘FRIDAY THE 13TH 2′ Gets The Go Ahead After $71.9 Million – Two Week Haul

New Line and Platinum Dunes are moving forward on a new “Friday the 13th” and that Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who wrote the recently released reboot, are beginning work on a script for a new picture.

Unlike the sophomore efforts of other franchises, the new “Friday” is expected to be not a sequel so much as a follow-up, those familiar with the project say. Jason Voorhees will be the villain, of course, but the new picture is expected to use elements of the original franchise more as a jumping-off point than as a template.

The Marcus Nispel-directed Friday the 13th has earned $71.9 million worldwide in two weeks.

Neal H. Moritz and his Original Films banner are in final negotiations to develop and produce for Columbia a contemporary version of “Total Recall,” the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi action movie directed by Paul Verhoeven.

The original, based on the Philip K. Dick story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale,” follows a man haunted by a recurring dream of journeying to Mars who buys a literal dream vacation from a company called Rekall Inc., which sells implanted memories. The man comes to believe he is a secret agent and ends up on a Martian colony, where he fights to overthrow a despotic ruler controlling the production of air.

Source: The Hollywood Reporter

Warner Bros. and a pair of top-tier production banners are in the early stages of a reboot of the 1980s children’s fantasy classic.

The Kennedy/Marshall Co. (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) and Leonard DiCaprio’s shingle Appian Way are in discussions with Warners about reviving the 25-year-old franchise with a modern spin. The studio recently acquired rights to the property, clearing the way for a potential remake.

Born out of a German-language novel by Michael Ende, the film centers on a boy named Bastian Balthazar Bux who discovers a parallel world in a book titled “The NeverEnding Story.”

DC’s ‘SUICIDE SQUAD’ Headed For Big Screen

SUICIDE SQUAD

SUICIDE SQUAD

Source: Variety

Warner Bros. is going on a suicide mission, setting up the DC Comics property “Suicide Squad” for Dan Lin (“Sherlock Holmes”) to produce as a potential franchise.

In a departure from normal comic-based fare, “Suicide Squad” concentrates on a group of incarcerated supervillains rather than the usual focus on superheroes. The first version of the squad debuted in a 1959 DC Comic, and a series was launched in 1987.

“Suicide Squad” will feature a mix of well-known and unknown villains recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed too dangerous for superheroes.

‘THE DARK KNIGHT’ Tops $1 Billion Mark

February 21, 2009

BATMAN and the JOKER Square Off in "THE DARK KNIGHT"
Source: Variety.com

Warner Bros. made the announcement Friday afternoon, saying that the combined domestic and international gross had totaled $1,001,082,160 to date — about $533 million domestically and $567 million overseas.

Only “Titanic,” with $1.8 billion, “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” have topped the billion-dollar worldwide mark previously.

Read more HERE.

‘THE DARK KNIGHT’ director, CHRISTOPHER NOLAN, just this week announced his next movie will be the science fiction action film, ‘INCEPTION’, which should push back any possible sequel to 2011 at the earliest. I’m thinking it will be closer to 2012. The length of time between Bat movies doesn’t really concern me as Nolan is going to need some time to plan his next move.
