April 16, 2008

I take that back. This is almost staring to read like a blog devoted to hair metal; Motley Crue and Poison in particular.

In any case watch the new vid HERE.

Sounds like classic ‘Girls Girls Girls’/'Dr. Feelgood’ era Crue. I was a much bigger fan of the first two albums but recapturing that vibe would be impossible.

Is it just me or is Tommy Lee hiding behind that kick drum?

The second big-screen spinoff of the paranormal TV adventure will be called “The X-Files: I Want to Believe,” Chris Carter, the series’ creator and the movie’s director and co-writer, told The Associated Press.

Due in theaters July 25, the movie will not deal with aliens or the intricate mythology about interaction between humans and extraterrestrials that the show built up over the years, Carter said.

Instead, it casts Mulder and Scully into a stand-alone, earth-bound story aimed at both serious “X-Files” fans and newcomers, he said.

“METALOCALYPSE”: Animated Death Metal Phenoms “DETHKLOK” To Tour This Summer?

April 16, 2008

METALOCALYPSE\' Animated DEATH METAL Phenoms, DETHKLOK, Will Hit the Road This Summer

updated: 4.16.08

I wrote this before realizing a live version of DETHKLOK had already toured last year when I was on tour. I missed all the tour announcemets and hoopla surrounding last years tour. According to Blabbermouth:

“Legendary drummer Gene Hoglan (DARK ANGEL, DEATH, STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, TESTAMENT) will team up with Mike Keneally, Bryan Beller and Brendon Small on the road as the real live version of DETHKLOK — the stars of the animated Cartoon Network “Adult Swim” program “Metalocalypse”.”

On some fan footage posted on youtube it looks like the band had a screen in the back with animation from the show with the band in front sillouehetted.

DETHKLOK, the animated stars of the hit Adult Swim, “METALOCALYPSE”, will not only hit the road this summer, they’ll be headlining the tour and probably making billions upon billions of dollars in guarantee performance fees and endorsements. Whatever will the Illuminati-ish TRIBUNAL do to stop them now?

How would this be possible considering the band is a cartoon? A close friend informed me that the bands live performance could be similar to that of the virtual band “GORILLAZ”.

On the GORILLAZ Wikipedia page several techniques during several different performances by the virtual band were described.

“live perfomances utilized 3D animations of the band projected on transparent film placed on stage which created the appearance that band members were actually present on the stage.”

“Videos, animatics and image collages projected onto the audience side of a specially designed screen, while choreographed lights behind the screen lit up silhouettes of the physical band, creating a meld of the physical and animated.”

Here’s the tour dates. Please remember folks, DETHKLOK cannot be held accountable for your (possible) death or dismemberment from your attendance at one of their shows.
